| John is a glaciologist who worked on Adelaide Island for the British Antarctic Survey in the 1960s. He returned in 1993 when the huskies were removed after they were termed a “non-indigenous species” under the Protocol to the Antarctic Treaty. He has agreed to give a talk entitled “The Last Husky Dog Journey in the Antarctic - the Story of the British Antarctic Dogs”. In 2003 he was included in the Royal Geographical Society's lecture program and he is an occasional lecturer on cruise ships. He is the only person I know who has an island named after him! He is married to the actress, Jenny Coverack, who entertained us in October 2004 when she performed the part of Kathleen Scott, Captain Scott's widow, in her play A Father For My Son | ||||
